Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust offers scholarship for undergraduate students in Australia. Applicant must be enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a full-time undergraduate, tertiary course of one or more academic years duration by attendance in an Australian Institution. Each scholarship is for up to four years for $4,000 per year. The application deadline is 31 October 2013.. AVCAT is a national independent charity who aim to help the children and grandchildren of ex-service men and women to a better future through higher education. Our scholarships assist those selected to obtain the qualification they need to enter their chosen career. Our students attend universities, TAFE colleges and other approved tertiary institutions around Australia. Over the years we have had doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, sports science students, teachers, musicians, social workers, climate change engineers, artists, meteorologists, oceanographers and even a circus performer..  Scholarships are available for pursuing full-time undergraduate, tertiary course at an Australian Institution. Those seeking to achieve a Masters degree or Doctorate will also be considered, but will be treated as a lower priority to those seeking to achieve a base-level qualification which will allow them to enter the workforce in their chosen career.

Who can apply to this scholarship? To apply for an AVCAT scholarship you must be:
· The child or grandchild of a person with operational service (as defined by the legislation) or three or more years continuous full
· time other service, as a member of the Australian Navy, Army or Air Force.
· Under the age of 25 when applying unless exceptional circumstances exist related to the veteran.
· Enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a full
· time undergraduate, tertiary course of one or more academic years duration the attendance in an Australian Institution.
· Eligible on income and assets grounds for the Centrelink Youth Allowance full
· time educational benefits, at the time of application if currently in full
· time education. (NB students may elect to receive VCES instead of Youth Allowance).
· An Australian resident.
