Applications are invited for research fellowships in the field of social and human sciences. This programme is open to applicants residing in France, belonging to a French research centre, who wish to undertake a research residency in another European country. The duration of the fellowship is 9 months. Fellowship holders must start their research stay maximum 6 months after obtaining the grant. 2 fellowships are awarded for candidates applying to a host laboratory in any country in Europe – except Germany. 3 fellowships will be awarded for candidates applying to a host laboratory in Germany. One fellowship is available for a candidate applying to one of the research centres in the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Italy.. Fernand Braudel-IFER (International Fellowships for Experienced Researchers Programme supported by the European Commission (Marie Curie Action Programme – COFUND – FP7). The FMSH and the partners of the programme offers open fellowships for researchers willing to do a research stay in a European country, Thyssen Clemens Heller fellowships for researchers willing to do a research stay in Germany and specific fellowships in partnership..  Fellowships are available for research stays in another European country.

Who can apply to this scholarship?
· Applicants must reside in France and be affiliated to a university or other research laboratory in France.
· Applicants can be of any nationality, but at the time of application, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host laboratory for more than twelve months in the three years immediately prior to the call deadline.
· Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) as at the date of application (i.e. dissertation successfully defended).
· Applicants must apply within six years of receipt of PhD. Exceptions may be granted in the case of a career break (e.g. interruptions due to maternity leave, illness, etc.).
· Applicants must be fluent in one of the working languages of the host laboratory; fluency in the language of the host country is preferable.
· Applicants may not apply to any laboratory in which they have already worked at any time during their scientific experience (including during doctoral studies).
Benefits of the scholarship:  The amount of the monthly stipend for room & board and living expenses is €2,000 (euros) net. Travel expenses (return travel fare) between France and the host country are covered, subject to prior approval.

Number of scholarships:  For the present call, 6 fellowships are offered: -2 fellowships for candidates applying to a host laboratory in any country in Europe – except Germany,  on the research area of their choice in the human and social sciences; -3 fellowships for candidates applying to a host laboratory in Germany (FMSH-Thyssen-Clemens Heller fellowships), on the research area of their choice in the human and social sciences; -1 fellowship for a candidate applying to one of the research centres in the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Italy, on a research area in the social and human sciences.
