Information fusion in cooperative UAV systems: Employing state-of-the-art technologies for real-time multi-sensor cooperative navigation and decision making. Such a framework improves the redundancy of the overall multi-agent (UAV) system and, in particular, its robustness to agent malfunctions.
This project involves developing innovative filtering schemes and data compression approaches. 2. High level cognition and tracking: Empowering UAV agents with high level cognition abilities for enabling autonomous operation in dynamic and uncertain environments. We use tools from machine learning for behavioural trait modelling and identification within a Bayesian tracking paradigm. The resulting scheme should provide the UAV agent with a complete probabilistic description of object movements and interactions in the scene. The raw data feed used by the algorithms can be processed simultaneously from multiple synchronised sensors, such as radar, sonar, LIDAR and video cameras.
Highly qualified and motivated candidate, preferably with some background in random processes, signal processing/machine learning or system theory.
