The position is connected to the project “Offshore Mid-Norway: Integrated Margin and Basin Studies (OMNIS)” funded by the Research Council of Norway (NFR) under the PETROMAKS programme. OMNIS is an interdisciplinary strategic research project aimed at understanding fundamental geological processes that led to the formation of sedimentary basins and the continental margin offshore mid-Norway. The new knowledge will be used to reduce hydrocarbon exploration risk in the challenging Norwegian Sea province. The project involves integrated geological, geophysical, numerical and analogue model studies. The focus is on five work packages defined in the project, encompassing northeast Atlantic plate tectonics, basin processes, breakup magmatism, geodynamic modeling, and integration.
