TRANSMIC project, the Centre of Migration Research at the University of Warsaw is offering a PhD researcher for a period of 36 months. Applicants will work on a research project title “Migration as a Translocal Process in EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood”. Deadline for submitting the application form is 30th June 2014.. ‘Transnational Migration, Citizenship and the Circulation of Rights and Responsibilities’ (TRANSMIC) is a project funded under the European Commission’s Marie Curie actions. This Initial Training Network will run from 1 September 2014 to 31 August 2018. The aim of the project is to contribute to the understanding of transnational migration, in particular by looking at the conditions for and effects of transnational migration, possibilities for the mobility of migrants’ rights to be enhanced, and the links between migration, citizenship, and migration and development.. Positions are available for PhD degree.

Who can apply to this scholarship? To be eligible for this PhD Researcher position:
· Applicants must have a relevant masters degree in social sciences, be in the first 4 years (full
· time equivalent research experience measured from the date when the master’s degree was obtained) of his or her research career, and may NOT have a doctoral degree at the time of recruitment by CMR UW.
· Applicants should have an excellent command of English. All non
· native English students have to pass the Academic IELTS (minimum score: 7.5) or TOEFL Internet
· based test (minimum score: 113).
· In light of the mobility requirements set by the European Commission for this project, applicants must NOT have lived in Poland for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to taking up the position. (Short stays such as holidays and/or compulsory national service are not taken into account.)
· It is the policy of the TRANSMIC project to increase the number of women employed. Also members of ethnic minority groups and handicapped people are explicitly invited to apply.
Benefits of the scholarship: Candidates will be paid in accordance with national standards Depending on your experience and qualifications, the pre-tax salary will be about 2000 EUR/month (cost of renting a studio apartment in Warsaw is approx. 400-500 EUR/month).
