In 1965 the University accepted a bequest from Dr J S Prendergast intended to assist monks from Glenstal Abbey to study at St Benet’s and to help Irish students continue their studies at Oxford. The Bequest does not provide full scholarships for study at the University, but, in general, is used to support students in need of smaller sums for maintenance and for specific projects. The number of awards varies each year.
-Applicants should be from the Republic of Ireland, whose parents are also from the Republic of Ireland. -All graduate courses and undergraduate courses. -Awards are not normally made to students in their first year of study. -Whilst financial need is the primary consideration in assessing applications, there should also be evidence of academic progress.
