This scholarship is awarded to a Pakistan citizen with an outstanding academic, cultural and social background for their studies at the University of Oxford.
Leadership skills, commitment to service, unselfishness, courage, interest in fellow beings as well as artistic, sports, music, dance and theatre pursuits along with moral force of character are some of the factors that are taken into account for the selection of scholars.
The Rhodes Scholarship covers:
- All University fees
- A personal stipend
- One economy class flight to Oxford when the scholarship begins
- One economy flight back to the student’s home country when the scholarship ends.
Eligibility is based on the fulfillment of conditions such as being a Pakistan citizen between 18 and 28 years old, having achieved an academic level advanced enough as to complete a bachelor’s degree by the time of the next annual election.
In order to apply for the Rhodes scholarship for Pakistan, candidates must deliver the following requirements:
- Academic record or transcript of undergraduate degree and any postgraduate study
- Curriculum vitae
- Personal essay (you must explain clearly what do you intend to study at the University of Oxford and why)
- Birth certificate or passport
- English Language proficiency
- List of referees
Also, it is necessary that you have completed a Bachelor’s degree with a first or upper second class honours, usually between 3.5-3.8 GPA (US). If you intend to apply for a doctoral course, it is very probable that you have to complete a master’s degree first.
The University of Oxford offers to Rhodes scholars a wide range of postgraduate degrees. Humanities Division & Social Sciences Division, the Medical Sciences Division and the Mathematical, Physical & Life Sciences Division are the main entities that gather the different areas of study available for applicants of the scholarship.
The scholarship is valid for two years provided you meet the required academic performance and personal behavior.
Depending on the scholarship Trustees, tenure could be extended one more year in order to complete the PhD after a two year Master’s degree.
